The situation as of 10 Aug, floods caused by Cyclone Komen have affected over 1.1 million people, amongst which are 200,000 women and girls. Over 240,000 households remain temporarily displaced. At least 103 people are confirmed to have died. Close to 380,000 people are affected or displaced by floods in the Ayeyarwady Region.

The Myanmar government continues to lead the emergency response. Priority humanitarian needs are food, water and sanitation services, shelter and access to emergency health care.

UNFPA is appealing for donations to assist the affected 1 million people to access health services, especially pregnant women who need access to safe delivery in health facilities. Pregnant women, women giving birth and lactating mothers need special and neonatal health services. At least 200,000 women and girls of reproductive age are affected and in need of dignity kits. Most essential medicines and equipment related to general health and reproductive health were destroyed.

UNFPA is working with youth volunteers in assisting local authorities in providing health services to flood evacuees through mobile clinics. They also distribute relief goods and conduct health education sessions in temporary shelters.
