The "HER AWARDS, UNFPA THAILAND 2024" was organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand, in collaboration with TV Burabha and Ninja Perfection Company, to recognize 110 individuals and organizations nationwide who have contributed to promoting population and development, particularly on gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls. Among the notable recipients of the awards were Ms. Saisunee Jana, Thailand's first female wheelchair fencer and Advocate for Inclusive Population and Development at UNFPA Thailand, who won three gold medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics; Ms. Supaluck Umpujh, Chairwoman of The Mall Group, a leading mall and department store operator in Thailand; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand; and Ms. Lalisa Manoban, a Thai singer and prominent figure in the K-pop industry. These influential women from diverse fields have made significant contributions to their respective areas, inspiring and empowering others through their achievements and dedication to their work.
The event took place on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, at ESCAP Hall, United Nations Conference Centre, Rajdamnern, Bangkok. The "HER AWARDS, UNFPA THAILAND 2024" was jointly initiated by UNFPA Thailand, TV Burabha, and Ninja Perfection Co.mpany. The awards aim to acknowledge and encourage organizations and individuals and organizations of all genders, ages, and backgrounds who have dedicated themselves to promoting population and development. The awards focus on gender equality and empowering women and girls for Thailand's sustainable development in all dimensions, leaving no one behind. A total of 110 awards were presented, including 77 awards from 77 provinces in Thailand, 23 awards from the grand committee, and ten awards selected through public voting. The award committee selected the award winners. Before the award ceremony, the project team visited Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen to meet with network partners, offer support, and address local challenges. Ms. Siriluck Chiengwong, Head of Office, UNFPA Thailand, stated that the awards celebrate the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD30) and the 45th anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The "HER AWARDS, UNFPA THAILAND 2024" honors individuals and organizations from all provinces who have inspired and promoted development and population in terms of health, society, and economy, especially in terms of gender equality and the empowerment of women, girls, and youth in Thailand.
Mr. Kritsanaphol Pongtanavaranon, Managing Director of TV Burabha Co., Ltd, expressed that the "HER AWARDS, UNFPA THAILAND 2024" project aligns with the company's role as a media organization, which aims to promote a society of equity and equality.
Mr. Jinnawat Siriwat, CEO of Ninja Perfection Co., Ltd, said the awards motivated current recipients and inspired others to continue promoting population and development in Thailand in a comprehensive and equitable manner.
