Background
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is an international civil society led campaign that takes place each year, starting on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ending on 10 December, Human Rights Day.
Under the theme “Towards 30 years of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action: UNiTE to End Violence Against Women,” this year, the campaign calls on governments, civil society, the private sector, and all UN partners to strengthen their commitment and accelerate progress toward eliminating violence against women and girls.
In 2024, for the third consecutive year, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, in partnership with the embassies of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, along with UN Women and UNFPA, and supported by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and Café Velodome, will host A Safe Journey with Her. This inclusive bicycling event seeks to rally community support for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign.
