The United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled.

The primary beneficiaries of UNFPA work are women and girls. UNFPA support their capacity to enjoy safe and healthy sexual and reproductive lives free of coercion. This means that we work for access to contraceptive methods for all people, regardless of age, marital status and sexual orientation. It also works on the wider context of changes in the make-up of population caused by higher or lower birth rates and death rates, and by the consequences these have for development, the economy, and society at large.

UNFPA believes that equitable and sustainable development comes from citizens, especially young people, who are informed, free of violence, coercion and discrimination, and empowered to make decisions concerning their lives, their schools, their jobs and families.
